Information for Awardees
The following information is provided so that applicants may understand our Post-Award requirements should they be selected for the TFWS Award.
Scholar Retreats – To be determined
TFWS/GEMSSTAR recipients will be invited to participate in all leadership development and networking opportunities offered by the American Geriatrics Society through its Geriatrics-for-Specialists Initiative. These include TFWS Scholar retreats and the U13 Conference series, which are three conferences being held over a 5-year period, and will provide a forum for past and current GEMSSTAR Scholars to interact with innovators in aging research, and additional meetings held in conjunction with the AGS Annual Meeting.
Please note that funds will be distributed only after the appropriate IRB approval is in place in the institution.
Awardees will be required to submit once yearly a brief annual narrative report on the progress of their research and career plans to both the Health in Aging Foundation and the Association of Specialty Professors (ASP). Sponsoring institutions will be required to provide twice yearly documentation of funds expended on the career development award. Awardees will also be expected to adhere to NIA reporting requirements.
The Health in Aging Foundation manages this program for the career development award. This includes coordinating the application and review processes, as well as distribution of funds. The annual meetings will be organized, conducted and supported by the Association of Specialty Professors (ASP).
